When Daisy met Kate

To mark her new position in the company, Faust’s intern Daisy sat down with Kate, our recently appointed Managing Director, to find out more about her career to date and what she loves about working at Faust.

When did you start at Faust? How long have you been here?

“Well, I graduated in 2008, and Faust was actually the first job I applied for and it was my first interview. I had one interview – and the rest is history!”

What was it like when you first started in terms of office size, clients etc?

“When I started it was just Jane and I working from her dining room in Sheen. I loved it because it was a really close set up, and my training was super hands on. It was 2008, so the start of the recession, and the property industry were one of the first industries to feel the effects and cut their marketing budgets – so it was an interesting time to join the sector! We only had about 4 clients at the time.

As we grew, we took on more team members and moved out of Jane’s house to offices in Mortlake, and finally Vauxhall in 2017ish, – where we’ve been ever since.”

What’s the main difference from when you started at Faust to now?

“When I first started, the media landscape was completely different. The focus was very much on print media coverage, which we still do and many of our clients still really value for the prestige factor, but now we do a lot of social media too which allows us to offer a broader variation of services.

Of course the biggest difference day to day is the team – from just two to a team of nine!”

What’s your favourite thing about Faust?

“Definitely the team. They’re fantastic, and it’s such a pleasure to go to work with your pals everyday.

I also love the variety of clients. Although a lot of our clients are in the property industry, they’re all different and it’s interesting to see their different approaches.”

What are some of your favourite memories at Faust?

“There’s so many! In the past, we used to go to Paris around Christmas and take a few clients with us and that was always fun, especially when something would go wrong. One time Jane almost left me there!”

What’s been your proudest achievement whilst at Faust?

“Seeing the company grow has been so rewarding, in terms of both expanding the team and winning more cliental. Building the business as a whole makes me really proud.”

What do you hope to see from Faust in the future in terms of company goals?

“I would like to see the company continue to grow at a sustainable level so we don’t lose the relationship we have now with clients and the press. As Faust is a boutique agency, I think we should remember our roots in everything we do, so we don’t lose sight of what’s important.”
