Contrary to the popular saying, new year doesn’t have to mean new home. It can spell the time for a rejuvenation, a makeover, a new lick of paint as it were.

The colour on everyone’s lips this January? Green.

Lime, olive, emerald, pistachio, mint - anything goes, as long as it’s somewhere between blue and yellow on the colour wheel.

Pantone declared ‘Greenery’ its colour of the year, a vivid tone many would love their perfectly landscaped lawns to take on, while ELLE Deco recommended jade to add confidence and drama to your home’s personality.

Meanwhile, Forest Green is rocking the Wall Street Journal’s world, and Vogue suggests going that step further with tropical prints topping their latest interior trend round up.

From the freshness of brighter hues to the warm, wintery feel of darker shades, green is great to inject a new lease of life into a room, whether through patterned cushions, a freshly painted wall, contrasting armchair or even the most natural and simple of additions - indoor plants.

We needn’t only look to our favourite colour wheel for the perfect contrast to your new found green home - orange. And as luck would have it, mahogany and copper are also having their 2017 moment.
